Job Description
The JobLand Use Services- Land Development Division is recruiting for an Engineering Technician V-Land Development* to perform advanced technical tasks in the Land Development Division. This position may supervise or assist with field investigations and project tracking with ACCELA and other tools; identifying practical engineering issues; drafting conditions of approval, agreements, standards, bulletins, informational materials, and other documents; preparing technical exhibits and design materials using GIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft 365; assisting staff with bond estimates and engineering calculations; maintaining reports and correspondence related to Land Development; and coordinating with Code Enforcement, Planning, Building and Safety, and other internal and external agencies.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background check, which includes fingerprinting and a medical exam.
Travel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet ONE (1) of the requirement options below to qualify.
OPTION 1
EDUCATION: Fifteen (15) semester (23 quarter) units of completed coursework from an accredited** college or university in civil engineering, engineering construction technology, or a closely related field. College transcripts or list of completed college coursework MUST be included with your application if a degree has not been conferred. See Note below.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of full-time technical civil engineering work experience which includes the application of civil engineering formulas, theories, and practices to construction, alteration, demolition, installation, or repair work.
OPTION 2 CERTIFICATION: Successful completion of the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification. Certificate must be attached to application.
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of full-time technical civil engineering work experience which includes the application of civil engineering formulas, theories, and practices to construction, alteration, demolition, installation, or repair work.
OPTION 3 EDUCATION: Thirty (30) semester (46 quarter) units of completed coursework from an accredited college or university** in civil engineering, engineering construction technology, or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of full-time technical civil engineering work experience which includes the application of civil engineering formulas, theories, and practices to construction, alteration, demolition, installation, or repair work.
OPTION 4 EXPERIENCE: Six (6) years of full-time technical civil engineering work experience which includes the application of civil engineering formulas, theories, and practices to construction, alteration, demolition, installation, or repair work.
**Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education and are subject to verification. Candidates with degrees completed outside the U.S. may be required to submit an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education in order for application to advance in the selection process.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, engineering construction technology, or a closely related field, and experience working with government agencies.
