THE POSITIONThe following tasks are essential for this position. Incumbents in this classification may not perform all of these tasks or may perform similar related tasks not listed here.
- Thoroughly analyzes program and operational issues. Collects data sufficient to support conclusions and recommendations. Complete the analysis consistent with established deadlines.
- Writes reports which support ideas logically. Writes clearly and convincingly employing a style and structure content to suit the audience.
- Makes effective verbal presentations. Develops and presents ideas and issues in a convincing verbal manner.
- Keeps supervisor informed of problems and issues of which the supervisor may not be aware.
- Maintains effective and continuing rapport with other governmental units. Effectively represents the City on issues of importance to the City. Established rapport with City staff of all levels. Is effective in obtaining and providing information and resolving issues in question.
- Understands and is able to adapt to the management style of immediate supervisor.
- Maintains a current and thorough working knowledge of City programs and their requirements.
- Keeps abreast of current developments and trends in the field of public administration.
- Assists in budget preparation and review. Gathers and analyzes data on existing programs, conducts surveys, and prepares proposals for the budget including financing, staffing, and organizational levels.
IDEAL CANDIDATE : The ideal candidate will have direct experience in desired area, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to keeping accurate records and accomplishing tasks under pressure. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact positively and effectively with the public, City staff, and appointed and elected officials. Candidate must be able to work independently, enjoys working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and committed to providing exceptional service.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way (not the only way) is the possession of:
•BA Degree/BS Degree
•Two years of professional administrative work in a public sector environment.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURESOnly the most qualified candidates will be invited to advance to the next stage in the recruitment process, which consists of an oral appraisal interview. Candidates who are not invited to the next stage will be deferred and may receive future consideration. The oral appraisal interview is tentatively scheduled for the week of
