A Water System Mechanic II job is available with the City of Fort Worth Park and Recreation Department for our Water Gardens Location.
Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma/GED
- Two years of responsible experience in water/wastewater plant maintenance or related field
- Valid Texas driver's license
Preferred Qualifications: - Proper techniques and uses of a variety of hand and power tools and machinery
- Experience working in pool maintenance
The Water Systems Mechanic II job responsibilities include: - Diagnoses and repairs disabled machinery and mechanical equipment at the City of Fort Worth Water Gardens, pump rooms and facilities
- Maintains, repairs and installs pumps, motors, valves and chemical feed systems
- Disassembles, cleans, overhauls and rebuilds motors, electric powered blowers, valves, sewage and chemical feed pumps, filters and other plant equipment
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and operates electrical systems, Troubleshoots control systems (PLC, relays, sensors, etc)
- Fabricates parts and equipment including mounts, brackets and shields. Operates welding and cutting equipment
- Receives, stores and handles hazardous materials
- Maintain proper chemical levels in water features (chlorine, ph., calcium hardness, alkalinity, cyanuric acid, etc)
- Assists in maintaining inventory of proper tools, supplies and equipment. Requisitions materials when assigned
- Gathers readings from various meters and gauges. Inputs data records of maintenance repairs
- Generates and maintains records including time reporting, equipment records, inventories and initiate purchasing requests
- Operates hand tools and equipment including a welding machine, air compressor, jackhammer, forklift and other related equipment
- Performs emergency call duty
- Performs other duties as required
- Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City's Personnel Rules and Regulation system
WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL DEMANDS Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting, depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.
Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
