Description

Overview

The Permit Technician I is responsible for providing development related information to customers and assisting them with residential and commercial development projects. They will coordinate with customers in order to compile all documents needed for various development related activities and will review and ensure that all fees are correctly applied to projects, permits, and applications. They will close projects and issue certificates of occupancy for residential and commercial projects.

Responsibilities

• Provides intake, review (including minor review), processing, and issuance services related to Development Services business practices

• Ensures all documents necessary for permit issuance are submitted and complete

• Processes and completes C of O Issuance

• Provides customers with real time interaction relating to Development Services business processes

• Provides real time fee quotes when needed by the customer

• Provides information to contractors, property owners, development professionals, and other stakeholders regarding City Ordinances and/or policies

• Provides back-up support for the Development Services call center when necessary

• Ensures proper electronic filing of documents pertaining to permitting and license processes

• Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

• Non-Exempt - Full-Time• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED

• No prior experience required

Licenses and Certifications

Required

• ICC Permit Technician required within eighteen (18) months of hire

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
