Deputy Clerk (Financial)
Description
Position Description: Duties: - Process filing deposits, court costs, fines, bonds and other financial transactions related to Common Pleas Court cases
- Must responsibly handle public moneys as well as secured documents
- Prepare and issue bills, past-due notices, and accounts for referral to collections
- Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with court and county policies
- Assist with monthly balancing, reconciliation, and verification of accounts
- Support the preparation of purchase orders and related documentation
- Respond to inquiries and public records requests regarding account balances, payments, and billing by telephone, email and in person.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal controls
- Perform other financial and clerical duties as assigned
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality. Hours are 8 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday.
- Promotes and maintains positive and effective working relationships within the Clerk’s office, the Courts, with other county offices and departments, in addition to promoting good public relationships as a representative of Licking County Government
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position and all agency safety procedures
- Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; may be required to attend seminars/training
- Other duties may be assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Program: Common Pleas
Brief Description: Under general supervision, provides customer service on behalf of the Clerk of Courts; assists public and performs various duties related to departmental operations. This position plays a key role in processing court-related financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with reconciliations and reporting. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working with sensitive financial information in a fast-paced, public service environment.
Job Prerequisites: Minimum Qualifications:Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree (A.A., B.A., or B.S.) or equivalent from a two-year or four-year college or technical school required with coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred; and, 12 - 18 months of experience and/or training in related field (bookkeeping, accounting, or financial recordkeeping) required. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency with accounting software, financial systems, and Microsoft Office products. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally. Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.Valid Driver's License. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
Compensation: Salary: Starting at $18-$22/hour (dependent upon experience)
