Role

Yavapai County is seeking a professional and impartial seasonal Mediator to assist with civil case resolution services. This position facilitates structured negotiations in matters involving property, financial, contractual, and other civil disputes to help parties reach voluntary agreements.

The selected candidate must be able to work at both the Yavapai County Superior Court locations in Prescott and Camp Verde.

A bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or a related field is preferred. Experience in mediation or other civil settlement services is highly desirable.

Starting pay is $25.00 per hour until training is completed.

This is a seasonal position which is on-call or as needed not to exceed 1040 hours per fiscal year.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
No experience required.

Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Attend a mandatory 40-hour Basic Mediation Training as approved by ADR services within first year of employment.
Attend a mandatory 32-hour specialized Family Mediation Training as approved by ADR services within first year of employment.
Observe a minimum of six (6) domestic relations mediations in the Superior Court Domestic Relations Program within first year of employment.

Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with an office and/or courtroom setting. The work area is adequately lighted, heated/cooled and ventilated.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate
effectively in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
