Job Location: This position will be located at the MOPERM Office 3425 Constitution Court Jefferson City, MO
Why you’ll love this position: Multi line adjuster that investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and resolves liability, property, and auto claims settlements. Must be able to manage litigated claim files and work closely with retained defense counsel to resolve. Will be responsible for prompt and courteous service to MOPERM's members and claimants against MOPERM members. Must maintain well documented claim files, ensure files are reserved accurately, and report appropriate claims to reinsurance. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
What you’ll do: - Responsible from inception to conclusion for liability claims by or against public entities that are MOPERM members
- Evaluation of the legal interests and obligations of public entities that are MOPERM members
- Collect and review appropriate claim documentation
- Investigate and research to determine whether a claim is to be accepted or denied
- Research applicable laws, policies, and procedures
- Oversee and serve as a liaison between MOPERM, its member(s) as applicable, and assigned defense counsel in litigated claims
- Participate in court-ordered mediation or claims resolution procedures
- May provide testimony or support to the legal claims resolution process
- Prepare loss reports to MOPERM's Board of Trustees, management staff, member public entities, reinsurers, and agents upon request
- Answer claim questions form members, agents and claimants an other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications - Either a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in insurance, risk management or law
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Ability to comprehend, apply, and communicate legal principles regarding public entity liability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of claims resolution/adjudication process
