Job Description:

Purpose:

Performs complex design, installation, maintenance, and repair of video production and control room equipment and information systems used to record and transmit live and recorded productions in multiple media formats.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

• Oversees day-to-day tasks and assignments for control room operations and staff.
  
• Installs, configures, and operates electronic equipment used to record, edit, and transmit video productions.
  
• Designs and maintains layouts, flowcharts, and/or schematics of control room and audio and video equipment.
  
• Integrates video programming with live web casting and video-on-demand equipment and needs.
  
• Creates, revises, and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) related to control room use and equipment for use by City staff.
  
• Mixes and regulates sound inputs and feeds and/or coordinates audio feeds with live broadcasts and recordings.
  
• Troubleshoots and performs repairs and routine cleaning of audio and video equipment.
  
• Sets up, hauls, loads, and unloads equipment; operates cameras, lighting equipment, teleprompters, microphones, and other audio equipment; and monitors and adjusts equipment during recording sessions.
  
• Constructs and positions sets, lighting equipment, and other City equipment and property.
  
• Determines video production equipment needs and makes recommendation for purchases.
  
• Researches technology solutions to address video production needs.
  

Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:

• Responsible for full range of supervisory activities: selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

• Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Radio-TV-Film (RTVF), Electrical Engineering, and Telecommunications or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of experience in a field related to the job.
  
• Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
  

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of network administration and fiber transport of audio/video signals.
  
• Knowledgeable of varying types of video production technology.
  
• Knowledgeable of video streaming best practices.
  
• Experience as network administrator in a video production environment.
  
• Experience installing complex video production systems.
  
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  

Notes to Candidate:

This position performs complex design, installation, maintenance, and repair of video production and control room equipment and information systems used to record and transmit live and recorded productions in multiple media formats and is responsible for the day-to-day activities of master control and other control rooms and control room staff.

Compensation:

$68,660.00 - $85,830.00 annually.

Hours:

Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Hours will vary based on operational needs.

This position may require nights and weekends. Flexible work schedule options are available
