The ideal candidate will have experience in: - Supervising and coaching employees, approving schedules, and writing performance evaluations
- Promoting teamwork and continuous improvement while planning and directing grounds maintenance activities
- Monitoring daily work progress and providing constructive feedback to staff
- Scheduling and coordinating equipment maintenance on yearly, weekly, and quarterly calendars
- Maintaining accurate records, performing audits, and managing work system reports
- Identifying hazards, responding to emergencies, and recommending improvements in the field
- Preparing and monitoring budgets, ensuring resources are used wisely, and ordering supplies
Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $37.35 /hour. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience - A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent.
- Three years of experience in landscaping, turf management, parks maintenance, or a related field.
- Six months of supervisory experience in landscaping, turf management, parks maintenance, or a related field.
Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements - Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Arizona driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date.
- Within six months of hire, an Arizona Pest Control Applicator certification possessing Category 1 (Industrial and Institutional), Category 3 (Ornamental & Turf), and Category 4 (Right-of-Way) must be obtained.
- Preferred: any combination of the following
- Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI).
- International Society of Arboricultural (ISA) Certified Arborist.
- Extension Turf Grass Certification.
- Certified SportsField Manager.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.
