Reporting Location:1200 TRAVIS 12th FLOOR Workdays & Hours: MONDAY - FRIDAY 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM* *Subject to Change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The City of Houston, Human Resources Department, seeks a dynamic, independently self-sufficient, customer-focused, and technologically savvy Human Resources Specialist. The candidate selected for this position will work collaboratively within the Human Resources Operations, Shared Services Division, supporting the Houston Police Department as a business partner and point-of-contact to provide superior human resources services.
The ideal candidate must have a strong attention to detail and be able to accurately assist with initiating, tracking, and successfully uploading departmental personnel actions into the City of Houston's HROne SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC) System. Additionally, the candidate must be willing to perform other duties essential to the efficient operation of the unit to meet our clients' expectations and requirements.
The candidate selected for the position will be responsible for the following:
- Assisting with the preparation and processing of personnel actions via HROne SuccessFactors - Employee Central (EC).
- Reviewing and approving actions in HROne SuccessFactors - Employee Central (EC) for accuracy while ensuring the data properly replicates and uploads to the SAP/ECC system.
- Thoroughly examining the employees’ pay history to ensure that all salary details are accurately reflected and appropriately applied.
- Conduct cadet orientation and in-person meetings with clients regarding military leave.
- Reviewing and maintaining logs, reports, and tracking actions in EC to ensure successful and timely upload.
- Will interpret and ensure compliance with human resources policies and procedures, as well as the Houston Police Department’s Meet & Confer, federal, state, and local laws.
- Responds to various inquiries from the public and City departments.
- Conducts research and analysis to obtain information and prepare reports, projects, and surveys.
- Resolving client complaints and pay-related concerns via email or phone.
- May perform other duties as assigned and participate in special projects as needed to ensure efficient operation of the unit.
WORKING CONDITIONS This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Requires a bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Social Science, Liberal Arts or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS One year of related professional experience in human resources is required. Pertinent experience at the professional level may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
