Forensic Quality Specialist! In this role you will assist in the coordination of activities required to maintain ISO 17025 accreditation standards. Ensures
BUREAU OF FORENSIC SERVICES Quality System documentation and accreditation records are complete, accurate and current.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in the coordination of accreditation activities including internal audits and proficiency testing
- Facilitates the distribution of proficiency tests and maintains proficiency test records
- Participates in conducting and documenting internal audits
- Ensures quality records are organized, current and meets the requirements of ISO 17025
- Assists with providing agency-wide training to Bureau of Forensic Services employees to include creating and updating instructional presentations and assessments
- Participates in the investigation of potential nonconformities and assists in the implementation of corrective actions and associated follow-up monitoring
- Ensures laboratory safety inspections are current and complete

The Bureau functions as an independent multidisciplinary forensic services agency serving all law enforcement agencies having jurisdiction in Wake County. The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Bachelor’s degree in Physical, Natural or Forensic Science or related field
- One year experience as a forensic analyst in one of the following fields or other related forensic experience: chemistry, DNA, latent prints, firearms, information technology or crime scene examination
- Operational knowledge of ISO 17025 standards through one year of related experience and participation in forensic quality audits

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Direct experience working in Wake County Bureau of Forensic Services
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management System
- Experience as ISO/IEC 17025 assessor or FBI QAS auditor
- Professional certification in a forensic science discipline
How Will We Know You're 'The One'? - Knowledge of ISO 17025 accreditation requirements
- Knowledge of Wake County Bureau of Forensic Services policies and procedures
- Ability to create and present instructional content
