POSITION OVERVIEW :
Under minimal direction, coordinate environmental programs for the Pond Inspection & Dam Safety ( PIDS ), and the Water Quality Compliance ( WQC ) sections. Administer the City of Austin Barton Spring Zone Operating Permit ( BSZOP ) and Stormwater Discharge Permit ( SDPP ) programs. Develop and maintain databases to coordinate operations and measure performance. Coordinate fee collection processes. Assist customers with permit application submittals. Track and coordinate legal enforcement cases. Conduct data quality control review. Identify and implement business process improvements under the Division’s Quality Management System. Serve as a Records Coordinator. Work with external partners to help improve water quality programs.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION :
Job Offer is contingent on passing a Criminal Background Investigation.

TRAVEL :
If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

Pay Range
$32.23 - $40.29
Hours
8 :00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Monday - Friday with the ability for a 60% telework schedule per week after initial training period. Exceptions may apply subject to the business needs of the department.

May require working outside of normal business hours, including emergency events, evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by business needs.

Serve as coordinator or liaison for interdepartmental and interagency issues and projects Communicate project and program information to internal and external customers Assist in management or resolution of interdepartmental and interagency conflicts Facilitate closure of litigated cases Negotiate permit and/or plan revisions with project engineers and contractors Develop/establish service agreements with other programs, departments and agencies Develop and manage contracts Manage and review environmental remediation plans Provide technical advice and assistance to City management, staff, contractors, and businesses Evaluate projects, programs and criteria Assist in the development and adoption of new City Code regulations, policies and procedures Assist in development of new/revised interdepartmental or interagency protocol or procedures Review, evaluate and recommend revisions to City Code, rules, policies and legislative bills Review, evaluate and recommend revisions to technical reports, studies and contract documents Review site plans, environmental site assessments and stormwater/effluent discharge proposals Evaluate existing conditions, collect samples, interpret sampling data, and develop corrective action plans Educate and conduct presentations to public Assist in the development of short and long range plans Prepare written reports, memoranda, letters, RFP / RFQ /IFBs and Standard Operation Procedures Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets Attend City Council, Board, Commission Meetings, etc. as a City/Department staff representative Respond to requests from the media

* The minimum qualifications for the Environmental Program Coordinator are graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Environmental Science, Life Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning, plus six (6) years of experience in a related field. Master's degree may substitute for experience up to two (2) years. Related experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
