Situated above the city of Hayward, the campus offers an ideal setting for teaching and learning and yet easy access to the many cities along the bay. The University has a satellite campus in Concord, a professional development center in Oakland and a significant presence online. Founded in 1957, Cal State East Bay is one of 23 universities of the California State University system (CSU). Cal State East Bay is recognized as a regionally engaged and globally oriented university with a strong commitment to academic innovation, student success, engaged and service learning, diversity, and sustainability.

About the Position

Project Rebound is a CSU-wide student support program designed to assist students with lived experience being formerly incarcerated in accessing and succeeding in higher education. Cal State East Bay's Project Rebound Program is modeled after the original Project Rebound program started by the late Professor John Irwin at San Francisco State in 1967. Project Rebound at Cal State East Bay was started in 2022 and provides wraparound support services to ensure that students who have lived experience being incarcerated can apply, persist, and thrive in their academic, extracurricular, and career endeavors. We offer a safe, supportive, and accessible space where students can find the resources they need to achieve academic success, build leadership skills, secure meaningful employment, and contribute to stronger, safer communities. The Cal State East Bay Project Rebound team consists of a part-time faculty Executive Director, full time Program Coordinator, and several student assistant interns.

The Outreach Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and current students, playing a key role in recruitment, intake, and resource coordination. The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and engaging students, facilitating student intakes and connecting students to academic and community resources, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure student success, expanding awareness of Project Rebound across campus and in the community, and building relationships with faculty, campus departments, and external partners to strengthen student support systems.
