This position will be located at Scott Joplin House State Historic Site, 2658 Delmar Blvd., St. Louis, Mo. 63103. Work shifts will vary according to facility demands and will include working a minimum of two weekends per month in the on-season and some holidays in the both the on and off season.
- Assist in directing the operation and maintenance of Scott Joplin House State Historic Site.
- Assist with the accounts payable functions for the site, submitting invoices, and reconciling expenditures.
- Assist with overseeing the work and behavior of seasonal, volunteer, including the ability to mentor and coach staff.
- Assist with administrative functions including annual budget requests, tracking and managing budget allocations, project recommendations, bidding and purchasing materials and services, revenue management, tour scheduling and tour operations.
- Participate in planning and directing natural or cultural history interpretation, resource management and research for Scott Joplin House State Historic Site.
- Assist in planning and coordinating special events, group outings, and special program requests with a variety of stakeholders.
- Assist in resource stewardship activities.
- Work as a liaison between the site and other entities in the city and surrounding areas.
- Preserve and maintain historic buildings; planning, leading and overseeing projects.
- Respond to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, disturbances, natural disasters, and any other significant events within the site.
- Act in the absence of the Park Superintendent, independently make sound decisions and directing staff as needed.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university can include: Park Management, Parks and Recreation, Wildlife Management, Forestry, Botany, Biology, Natural Sciences, Business of Public Administration or related field AND 5 or more years of management, supervision and participation in interpretation, preservation, protection, maintenance and enhancement of state parks and historic sites. (Substitutions for additional education or experience may be allowed)

Preferred Qualifications and Experience/Special Job Requirements
- Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.
- Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts. Must work a minimum of two weekends a month from April 1 through October 31.
- Available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.
- Must be able to work in all weather extremes.
- Must be able to perform work that may be physically demanding.
- Knowledge on construction and historic building maintenance preferred.

Salary:
$44,037-$44,346 per Year
