Be trained as a generalist technologist in the Toxicology Laboratory within the entire laboratory in both screening and confirmation; to be able to cover both areas and perform duties of both sections.

Identify chains of evidence and match to urine and oral swab samples in preparation for assigning liquidator numbers for COE’s and samples for preparing them to have reports and labels typed.

Label chains of evidence, samples and test tubes to properly identify that all match before processing. Prepare samples to be placed in racks to be placed on biochemical analyzers for processing. Prep and pour urine samples and prep oral fluid samples for processing.

Be trained to operate biochemical analyzers, GC/MS and LC/MS equipment, verify results, monitor calibrators and controls. Verify calibrators, controls and sample results. Reconcile results with Chains of Evidence.

Maintain biochemical analyzers and other equipment, maintain logs of inventories, reagents, supplies needed in both screening and confirmation labs. Other general laboratory work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Five or more years of professional technical experience as a medical technologist, medical laboratory technician, or related field.

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university, that include earned credit hours in chemistry, physical/biological science, or related field, may substitute for up to four years of the required experience, at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year - a minimum of one year of the listed experience is required)

Some positions are eligible for a shift differential of $173.34 semi-monthly, which is provided to employees with shifts that begin on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am, and who work at a 24/7 worksite (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center), or whose work requires regular visits to these locations. If selected for interview, eligibility may be discussed at that time with the hiring manager
