Digital Publishing Supervisor (Promotional Only). This position is critical in overseeing the City’s digital publishing and mail services, ensuring high-quality production and distribution of materials for all City departments.
As a Digital Publishing Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the activities of the Digital Publishing and Mail Services section. This role involves managing city-wide digital publishing requests, coordinating production schedules, maintaining high-speed digital printing equipment, and ensuring compliance with City policies and procedures. Additionally, you will provide leadership to staff, optimizing workflow efficiency and maintaining high-quality customer service standards.
Your duties will include:
• Overseeing and coordinating digital publishing and mail service operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to City policies.
• Managing city-wide digital publishing requests, prioritizing tasks, setting deadlines, and scheduling production.
• Supervising staff by assigning tasks, reviewing work, and providing training and guidance as needed.
• Operating and maintaining advanced digital publishing equipment, including high-speed copiers, scanners, bindery machines, large format laminating machines, and envelope inserter.
• Operating computer software programs, including Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
• Handling confidential and sensitive publishing requests from departments such as the Police Department and City Attorney’s Office.
• Preparing and monitoring budgets for Digital Publishing, Mail Services, and Internal Service Fund (ISF) expenditures.
• Maintaining inventory control of digital publishing supplies and researching new equipment as needed.
• Ensuring compliance with safety standards and troubleshooting technical issues related to publishing and mail equipment.
• Collaborating with City departments to address service concerns and improve operational efficiency.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications for Success!A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school with additional college coursework in the graphic arts, communication, business, or a related field, two years of experience performing difficult and complex digital publishing services comparable to that of a Digital Publishing Specialist II with the City of Ventura, and prior supervisory or leadworker experience is required. An associate degree in graphics, communication, business or a related certification from a vocational or trade school is preferred.
License: Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license is required.
