Position Overview:Oversee the daily operations of the Network Infrastructure & Operations ( NIO ), Data Center Operations ( DCO ) team, ensuring that the COA Data Centers and Telecom Rooms run efficiently and securely, have adequate backup power, and the systems are monitored. You will manage and mentor IT staff members, coordinate with other departments to align technology with business needs, and lead projects that improve COA IT infrastructure. Additionally, they are responsible for troubleshooting complex technical issues which may require traveling to multiple COA locations, implementing IT policies, and staying updated on technological advancements to guide strategic decisions. Must reside in the state of Texas. Ability to travel to more than one work location multiple times a week.

This position has been designated as a
Essential Employee. Essential Employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees and ensure the continuity of essential operations. In the event of a designated emergency, these positions will be called back or retained to assist with operations and recovery. Essential employee schedules will be modified based on extraordinary situations or emergency conditions and may be assigned to report to a designed work site. The designated work site will be a location of city-owned or City-leased space to which an employee would traditionally be assigned and report for work, if not teleworking.
Travel: If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin
Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

- Ability to develop, implement, and administer a budget, prepare budget requests, and monitor expenditures for budgetary compliance
- Ability to read and interpret standard accounting and financial reports
- Ability to conduct research and analyze and interpret research findings
- Ability to compile data and prepare narrative and statistical correspondence, reports, and presentations
- Ability to assign and direct the work activities of assigned personnel
- Ability to understand complex program structure, strong analysis and problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
