The
Department of the Sheriff/Coroner is recruiting for
Crime Prevention Program Coordinator who under general direction, oversees, promotes, implements and maintains a crime prevention program for the Sheriff's Department. This position is responsible for developing protocols, manuals, and training curricula used to instruct school officials on managing student behavior and applicable student code violations; preparing, presenting, and coordinating presentations for a variety of audiences; and analyzing statistical data for crime trends in the community.

Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony.
2) Availability: This department is a "24/7" operation. I ncumbents may be required to work some evenings and weekends.
3) Travel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

Minimum RequirementsExperience: Two (2) years of full-time experience conducting research, developing, and coordinating outreach strategies and training to promote a variety of public safety programs to the public and community groups. This experience must have included developing manuals, training curricula, delivering and/or coordinating formal training programs for a law enforcement agency. Note: On-the-job training and mentoring experience is not considered formal training.
--AND--Education: Fifteen (15) semester (23 quarter) units of completed college coursework in business/public/criminal administration, behavioral/social science, education, or a closely related field. A list of completed coursework must be attached to the application unless the applicant possesses an associate's degree in one of the qualifying fields listed above.
Substitution: An additional year of qualifying experience as described above
-OR- completion of a P.O.S.T. Academy Instructor Certification Course (AICC) or higher may substitute for the required education.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have:
- Experience developing, coordinating, and presenting a variety of comprehensive crime prevention programs to the public.
- Excellent public speaking and written/verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze programs and make recommendations.
- Work effectively with a culturally diverse community.
