Position Overview:
This position will support the Health Equity Unit in maintaining its long-standing relationship with Austin’s Hispanic/Latinx community while building new connections. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Hispanic/Latinx community and culture, proven experience delivering public health services to this community, and strong skills in community engagement. Additionally, this role will lead the planning and coordination of the unit’s signature event, Fiesta de Salud . The candidate should demonstrate innovative approaches to connecting with the community, sustaining engagement, and a genuine passion for social justice.

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

Plans goals, objectives, for assigned programs. Develops policies and procedures. Evaluates programs to determine compliance with Federal, State, Local, and departmental regulations. Develops and conducts orientation and training sessions for program staff. Assists in budget preparation. Promotes assigned programs through relevant media. Investigates client or community complaints. Handles personnel issues Performs other tasks as required.

May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others.

* The minimum qualifications for the Public Health Program Coordinator position are: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, plus four (4) years of experience in a field related to public health/human services programming, public health/human services planning, or public health/human services program management. Related experience may substitute for education up to a maximum substitution of four (4) years. Graduation with a Master's degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for one (1) year of the required work experience.
