The Welfare Investigations Unit team conducts welfare fraud investigations and is looking for a Non-Commissioned Investigator. This position is responsible for receiving and processing welfare fraud referrals, conducting preliminary investigations and telephone interviews. You will be searching databases for information, then analyzing that information with the intent of formulating a course of action. This requires someone with the ability to accurately track complaints, referrals and investigations and the ability to write clear and concise reports.

What you’ll do:

• Conduct preliminary investigations of suspected violations and incidents, interview victims and witnesses to obtain evidence and write case summaries.

• Compile and analyze information regarding victims, witnesses, and persons suspected of violating statutes, policies or program requirements administered by the assigned agency.

• Compile and analyze documentary information relative to business operations, financial assets, real and personal property, and employment.

• Examine and analyze a variety of records to secure information concerning suspected violations of federal and state laws and/or regulations.

• Exercise independence and initiative in the performance of responsibilities; receive general administrative direction.

• Perform other related work as assigned.

• MULES certification within the first six months of employment will be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

A working knowledge of welfare benefit programs and experience in eligibility determination will be considered as an alternative to a Bachelor’s degree. The ideal candidate will have experience in conducting research, collecting and organizing documents along with good interpersonal and written communication skills. These skills should be reflected in the candidates resume.
