What You'll Be Doing

The Housing Department is recruiting for a Homeless and Prevention Services Division Director. The Homeless and Prevention Services (HPS) Division Director plays an integral role in the community’s effort to prevent and end homeless. This position will coordinate with other divisions in the Housing Department, as well as external partners, to ensure homelessness is rare, brief and non-recurring.

The HPS Division operates one of the largest emergency shelters for men experiencing homelessness in the state. It also manages all community contracts with homeless service providers through the nationally recognized Bridge to Home program and operates the flagship “Wake Prevent!” program.

The Division Director ensures the administration and compliance for Federal grant and locally funded programs focused on homeless and housing services which serve the most vulnerable and lowest income households who are at-risk or experiencing homelessness.

The HPS Division Director will work through staff and partners to construct comprehensive engagement, education, support services and affordable housing strategies.

Wake County Department of Housing Affordability and Community Revitalization’s goal is to ensure that quality affordable housing is available for all Wake County residents. This Department comprises of five divisions: Equitable Housing & Community Development; Homeless & Prevention Services; Research, Data & Systems; Permanent Housing & Support Services; and Veteran Services. As the population and economy continue to grow in Wake County, the need for affordable housing development and preservation increases. Not only do more units of affordable housing need to be built, housing services must be provided to support families and individuals to access or maintain safe, decent, affordable housing.

Emergency Service Worker Statement
