Annual Salary Range: $61,976 - $68,350

The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations is seeking a highly motivated person to be the Department's Senior Accountant. Working with Department and Division staff, this person will assist in determining the Department's resource needs and identify the best funding sources to allow the Department to meet its statutory requirements and best serve its customers. This position reports to the Agency Budget Specialist and works closely with Department leadership to align resources, goals, and initiatives.

What you will do:

Fiscal Notes: Receiving the requests, distributing to the appropriate department/division staff, compiling responses and transmitting to SAO and oversight. Tracking requests in process. Preparing update reports for management.

Budget Preparation and Appropriation Monitoring: Assist the Agency Budget Specialist in the preparation of decision item forms, program description forms, fund financial summaries and responses to requests for information from OA Budget and Planning, House Budget and Senate Appropriation committees. Preparation of monthly budget to actual reports by division and appropriation. Assist in the determination of appropriate fund sources for expenditures. May attend hearings, which might include evenings.

Financial Reports and Fiscal Analysis: Preparation of periodic standard reports and ad hoc reports as necessary. Prepare fund or program projections and spending analyses. Monitor ITSD spending and staffing. Help prepare ACFR responses and/or federal reports (US Department of Labor) as needed.

Quality Control: Perform reviews of cost accounting information to ensure accuracy of reports generated. Review time sheet data for accuracy and reasonableness.

Internal Control and Cost Allocation Plans: Assist in the preparation of the Internal Control and Cost Allocations Plans as needed.

Fixed Assets: Complete periodic reconciliation of the fixed asset general ledger account to subsidiary accounts. Prepare annual fixed asset inventory for distribution to divisions and units for the annual physical inventory.
