Due to the confidential nature of the position, remote work is not an option. Domicile location will be at one of the following correctional facilities: Maryville, Cameron, St. Joseph, Chillicothe, Moberly, Boonville or Kansas City.Hiring, training, supervision and direct support of assigned staff working across multiple worksites.
Coaching and assisting with the clinical development of assigned staff in line with professional best practices.
Setting an example to staff by creating a positive work culture through intentional leadership and creating a cohesive team environment.
Demonstrating cultural competency and trauma informed care practices to support diverse staff populations.
Providing direct support staff working in multiple institutions who specialize in supporting personal or occupational stressors.
Complying with federal and state laws related to mandated reporting and protected health information
Assisting staff with collaboration on the peer support team(s).
Training staff in department-wide education programs.
Offering guidance and support regarding case management.
Minimum Qualifications: Seven or more years of vocational experience in corrections, counseling in mental/behavioral health, crisis/trauma recovery, or related field; that includes one or more years of supervisory experience within the listed fields.
(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university, that includes earned credit hours in psychology, social work, professional counseling, or related field, may substitute for up to four years of the required experience, at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year - a minimum of two years of professional experience, and one year of supervisory experience in the listed fields is required)
Preferred Qualifications/Skills: - Experience with psychosocial rehabilitation and group facilitation
- Prior experience in a forensic, corrections, law enforcement or equivalent setting.
- Licensure in social work, professional counseling, psychology or a related field.
- Experience working with both individuals and groups.
- Applicants should have a high degree of cultural competence and the ability to work with diverse groups.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
- In-state travel may also be required.
All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed. Some positions are eligible for a shift differential of $173.34 semi-monthly, which is provided to employees with shifts that begin on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am, and who work at a 24/7 worksite (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center), or whose work requires regular visits to these locations. If selected for interview, eligibility may be discussed at that time with the hiring manager.
The Department of Corrections is the only State agency that currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of service up to 20 years.
