Description
The City of Weatherford’s Development and Neighborhood Services Department is looking to hire a Code Enforcement Officer I, II, III or a Lead Code Enforcement Officer. This position will perform a variety of technical planning and inspection duties relating to the enforcement of all adopted building and code enforcement regulations. - Answers questions, distributes forms and provides a variety of information regarding city planning, zoning, and building codes.
- Conducts site reviews and evaluations of proposed projects; meets with the public and contractors to provide logistical support.
- Investigates complaints regarding code compliance issues. Composes and delivers verbal or written orders for correction of violations of the codes and ordinances.
- Performs compliance inspections with housing, zoning, environmental health, nuisance, and abatement codes, regulations, and ordinances to ensure compliance with approved plans.
- Performs building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing inspections.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED; or business or vocational school training in construction or craft trades; or with a bachelor’s degree in a related field planning, geography, law enforcement, construction, architecture, engineering preferred or any combination of experience, education or training that will produce the desired qualifications. • Six months’ experience in construction and the technical aspects of enforcing codes preferred. • Must possess Code Enforcement Officer Registration from the State of Texas or be able to obtain within 180 days of employment. • Additional International Code Council (ICC) certifications desirable. • Must have a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License.
