ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Department of Environment & Sustainability is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Air Quality Monitoring Technician I/II position. This position will modify, repair, inspect, deploy, verify, maintain, and calibrate a variety of electronic, pneumatic, analytical, mechanical, meteorological, communications, and optical air quality monitoring equipment and data acquisition systems; take samples and process data from the air quality monitoring network at various monitoring sites throughout Clark County; document all activities; prepare report and records; and participate in projects and SOP development to ensure quality system operations that are in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Perform data review, verification, validation, and analysis. Promote a positive image of Air Quality to customer base and the public.

Air Quality Monitoring Technician I: $28.11 - $43.55 Hourly
Air Quality Monitoring Technician II: $30.32 - $47.03 Hourly

The Air Quality Monitoring Technician I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Air Quality Monitoring Technician II.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Air Quality Monitoring Tech I - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics, electronics, meteorology, computer science, quality management, metrology or a related field. Job-related experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Air Quality Monitoring Tech II - In addition to the above: Minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience comparable to that of an Air Quality Monitoring Technician I and completion of the Monitoring Technician training program. Experience in quality control and quality assurance programs is desirable.

Working Conditions: Work out of doors in various weather conditions, dust and noise. May attend meetings or training courses outside of normal working hours.

Licensing and Certification: Possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment .

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
