We are currently seeking a proficient Jail Maintenance Operations Specialist to join our team at the Larimer County Sheriff's Office. You will oversee maintenance and construction activities, ensuring precise alteration, repair, and maintenance of equipment, buildings, and grounds. The starting salary range for this position is $63,421.69 to $76,106.16.

Essential Functions- Exercises direct supervision over inmate labor force and outside contractors; provides indirect supervision to Jail Maintenance Workers.
- Assigns, directs, and supervises activities of assigned staff and inmate labor, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards; makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting staff, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performance, and submitting such records and reports as required by County policies and procedures.
- Performs preventive maintenance and repairs to cooling systems, heating systems, plumbing systems, boilers, pumps, fans, filters, and other mechanical equipment.
- Calibrates controls, replaces bearings and shafts, rewires equipment, fabricates and installs sheet metal, and retrofits new components to existing equipment.
- Interprets engineering drawings and equipment manuals.
- Coordinates maintenance/construction activities; inspects and performs complex maintenance tasks involving HVAC, mechanical, electrical, carpentry, and plumbing tasks.
- Analyzes operational problems and initiates major maintenance of malfunctioning equipment and electrical systems.
- Operates, maintains, adjusts, and repairs a wide variety of equipment, including kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, CCTV, electro-mechanical doors and locks, intercom system, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Follows safety measures applicable to any crafts or trades, as well as general Jail safety precautions and practices.
- Prepares reports or other documentation required as a part of assigned duties; completes and maintains records, logs, and reports.
- Receives and picks up supplies.
- Administers first aid in emergency situations.
Nonessential Functions- When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
Qualifications- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Three (3) years of experience performing a variety of building maintenance work involving mechanical, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and plumbing tasks required; work in a corrections or detention environment preferred.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License by date of hire required.
- Possession of CPR and First Aid certifications by date of hire required.
