This position is responsible for administrative/technical support for House Research. This position edits, proofs, revises, and uploads bill summaries to the internet bill tracking system and coordinates the bill summary publication process; adds and updates information on the Internet and Intranet websites; edits and revises bill titles in the bill tracking system as they change through the legislative process; prepares and assists in the preparation of reports, tables, and other information using word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and other types of software. This position also answers incoming telephone calls, refers callers to appropriate analyst, and responds to inquiries for legislative information from House members, staff, legislative assistants, state agencies, lobbyists, and the general public and receives visitors and controls their access to the staff offices.

High school graduation or equivalent and three or more years of experience in administrative work or office management required. (Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for required experience).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and related experience required. Advanced knowledge of office practices, procedures, personal computer software and equipment. Knowledge of business English, spelling, and grammar and the ability to type accurately at a working rate of speed. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to various situations, and prioritize multiple work assignments simultaneously while managing various interruptions. Legislative experience and/or knowledge of the legislative process is preferred.

EMPLOYMENT RESTRICTIONS: The House prohibits the hiring of any person who at the time of initial hiring is related to any member within the fourth degree by blood or marriage.
