Description

Job Location: Central District Office, 1511 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MOWhy you’ll love this position: The regional counsel supervises and directs legal activities of the Regional Counsel Office.
What you’ll do: - Accountable for meeting Chief Counsel's Office goals and performance measures.
- Litigates cases in the practice areas of risk management or "dangerous condition" of public property claims and acquisition of property rights using the eminent domain process; controls case inventory; monitors cases to ensure proper prioritization, preparation, and timely prosecution; conducts arbitrations, jury trials, hearing, briefs and argues cases to the appellate courts; reviews trial reports and settlement requests; and exercises settlement authority as delegated by the chief counsel.
- Recommends appropriate staffing levels to the chief counsel; supervises and directs the work of professional and
support staff; evaluates performance and makes recommendations on employment, promotion, transfer, disciplinary
action, and discharge consistent with equal employment opportunity principles and the department's affirmative action
plan. - Trains staff in trial preparation, technique, and substantive law and monitors work progress.
- Ensures timely compliance with all performance development requirements and all reporting requirements, including time sheets, expense accounts, audit reports, case reports, trial reports, and justifications for settlements.
All you need for success: Minimum Qualifications - Juris Doctor Degree.
- Membership in good standing with the Missouri Bar Association.
- Provide appropriate and timely legal advice on various legal matters and policies as requested.
- Litigation experience regarding condemnation/inverse condemnation and tort liability cases.
Special Working Conditions: - Maintain attorney-client privilege.
- Supervise attorney, paralegal and executive assistant staff.
Preferred Qualifications - Ability to develop and cultivate communications and relationships with MoDOT district and division staff in order to ensure competent and reliable legal representation.

Salary:
$136,208.16 per Year
