Community Center Supervisor Department of Parks & Recreation Temporary, Non-Exempt

Community Center SupervisorSupervises events or programs at Yancey School Community Center, Greenwood Community Center, or Meadows Community Center.
Essential functions:
- Overseeing the event operation of Community Center buildings and scheduled functions.
- Custodial services, customer and business services, as well as facility management.
- Responsible for the security of the facility; including opening and closing the community center for scheduled functions.
- Monitors, evaluates, and supervises the operations of assigned recreation program areas and facility operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: General knowledge of the operation of a community center; general knowledge of recreation and related rules and regulations. Ability to maintain order in a public facility; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, and the general public and the ability to work independently. Working knowledge of custodial and maintenance care of buildings
Physical Conditions and Nature of Work Contacts:
Work requires strenuous physical tasks, including bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying items weighing 20- 50 pounds. Regular contact with office personnel, other staff members and Community Center patrons.
Salary Range: The hiring range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00 per hour. Starting offer is based on applicable education beyond minimum requirements and internal equity. This is a part-time, temporary, FLSA non-exempt position. Internal candidates will receive pay adjustments in accordance with Local Government Personnel Policy, §P-60.
Education and Experience:Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by experience in building maintenance and custodial practices. At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in the Parks and Recreation field, or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience providing the knowledge, abilities, and skills cited above.
Special Requirements: Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia
