This position performs inspections for the departments code enforcement operations to ensure compliance with city codes and ordinances. Duties include but are not limited to: responds to citizen complaints, questions, suggestions and concerns related to city code violations; patrols the city to identify code violations; prioritizes, schedules, and performs inspections and follow-up inspections to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances; performs research and investigative work to determine the extent of violations; prepares investigation packets, violation notice letters, placards, stop-work orders, invoices and lien documents as required; prepares cases for court; issues Municipal court citations for violations; prepares a variety of regular and special reports; assists in reviewing current codes and participates in the development and implementation of new or amended codes; testifies in appeals hearings; and performs related duties.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain state certification as a Registered Code Enforcement Officer.
