Salary Range: $58,800 - $78,400

General Summary

Manages the Construction of Capital Improvement Projects for the City of Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Facilities and Conveyances. Facility Construction includes water, sewer and wastewater treatment plants, CSO’s and pump stations. Conveyance Construction includes sewage collection piping, potable water distribution piping, storm water piping, combined sewer storage tunnels and green infrastructure.

Performs various skilled and unskilled tasks associated with Capital Construction Project development, coordination and administration. This is a fully seasoned managerial level charged with responsibility for significant specialized functions within Office of Engineering Services Construction Management Division. Position manages a medium size group of employees, typically with intermediate supervisors, or a smaller group of specialized professional employees. Areas of responsibility are typically unique within the department.

Works independently and only reports to the supervisor when necessary approval or other direction is required. Direction received is general and focuses more on long-term and short-term operating objectives, managerial effectiveness, and operating results. Establishes work methods, timetables, performance standards, etc. May make procurement or resource allocation decisions within departmental guidelines. Selects from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks. May commit department to action. Has managerial authority over a group of professional employees and/or a group of professional, technical, or administrative employees with multiple intermediate supervisors and/or team leaders.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with a major in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field. (Equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis). 5 years of work experience in a Construction Management role with a federal, state or municipal governmental agency.

Preferred Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management with an emphasis on water resources management, environmental science or policy, land use planning, civil engineering, soils science, or hydrology with some experience in water quality management and 3 - 5 years of experience in the design or construction of Water Management Capital Improvement Projects.

Licensures and Certifications

None required. Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Professional Licensed Engineer Certifications or

similar certifications preferred.
