The position plays a key role in ensuring financial integrity and compliance within the County. It involves performing accounting and auditing duties for County financial reports and state reporting, overseeing cash reconciliations for County treasury accounts, and monitoring fiscal activities for grant-funded projects, ensuring compliance with grant regulations. The role also includes preparing financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, depreciation schedules), and adapting to increasingly complex GASB requirements. This is just a summary, as the position involves many ongoing duties and projects across various timeframes.

COME WORK FOR THE COUNTY OF COLUSA: WE’RE WAITING FOR YOU! Supervision & Examples of Duties Accountant-Auditor I: Receives general supervision from supervisory or management staff.
Accountant-Auditor II: Receives direction from supervisory or management staff.
May exercise direct supervision over lower-level professional, technical or clerical staff.
Qualifications Experience and Training Guidelines - Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Accountant-Auditor I: Experience: Some professional level accounting experience is desirable.
Training: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration or a related field.
Accountant-Auditor II: Experience: Two years of professional governmental accounting experience equal to performing the duties of an Accountant-Auditor I for Colusa County.
Training: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration or a related field.
Supplemental Information Based on a 37.5 work week Accountant-Auditor I: $4,276 - $7,013
Accountant-Auditor II: $4,722 - $7,742 The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
