The PositionBargaining Unit: Local 21 - Supervisory Management Contra Costa County is recruiting to fill one (1) Staff Development Supervisor vacancy in the Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD).

The ideal Staff Development Supervisor possesses a strong understanding of training and learning principles, along with experience in adapting to an evolving organization. This role involves leading a team of Social Services Staff Development Specialists who work closely with various stakeholders within EHSD to design and deliver innovative, engaging, and high-quality training programs for Contra Costa County employees at all levels, across different operations and work locations.

What you will typically be responsible for:- Directing and overseeing the work of Social Services Staff Development Specialists
- Coaching and supporting staff in training and performance improvement
- Designing, implementing, and managing training schedules and programs
- Assessing trainer and trainee performance to ensure effectiveness
- Collaborating with department leaders to identify training needs
- Planning and coordinating the Staff Development training calendar
- Preparing comprehensive reports on training outcomes and initiatives
- Evaluating training effectiveness in areas such as curriculum design, problem analysis, presentation skills, and trainee records

Minimum QualificationsLicense Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out-of-state valid motor vehicle operator’s license will be accepted during the application process.
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business or public administration, social or behavioral science, education or closely related field.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a staff trainer with responsibility for developing and presenting a wide range of staff development programs.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four (4) years. One (1) additional year of qualifying experience may be substituted for the required academic major.
Desirable Qualifications:- Training experience in the public sector

Selection ProcessApplication Filing: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application, applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
Online Virtual Interview : Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online interview. In the oral interview, candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the oral interview competencies, as well as an overall passing score of 70% of higher.
The interview will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the Staff Development Supervisor position. These may include, but are not limited to: Critical Thinking, Delivering Results, Adaptability, Displaying Ownership, and Professional Integrity & Ethics
( Weighted 100%) The online interview will be administered remotely using a computer or mobile device such as a tablet. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to participate in the online interview , as well as a computer or mobile device with a camera.

CONVICTION HISTORY

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
