Department Systems Analyst/Programmer II - Fire Department
Description
Introduction About The Position This position in the Fire Department provides mid to high-level technical software support to users to improve and enhance computer systems to meet specific assigned functional area's business needs.
Work primarily focuses on data analytics using SQL reporting, use of Power BI, Visual Studio (SSIS), and supporting Fire Records Management and similar systems. This role also does testing, evaluation, acquisition, installation and support of software, related hardware, and some telecommunication systems. Updates and maintains computer systems or programs and databases by troubleshooting, problem analysis, and provides advice to improved productivity and better integration of technology into business operations. Project management skills, the ability to prioritize and pivot are all key components needed in this position.
The most successful candidates for this role will have a strong grasp of data analytics and report development. Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate's experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $97,219.20 annually. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Three years of experience directly working on computer-based information systems' software and programming/scripting languages in support of medium enterprise applications.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements - Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.
Essential Functions Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Works within the assigned department and provides application support on the designated systems.
- Provides support required for all functional area related software applications including working with vendors to upgrade systems or training new users on the system.
- Provides guidance and support to business users and system end-users.
- Evaluates and analyzes assigned functional area related processes, procedures and workflow to determine the feasibility of different technology options and solutions to meet their requirements.
- Assists in system analysis, computer configuration, planning and training of employees on the assigned functional area's automated systems to ensure optimal performance of the systems.
- Researches, tests, and evaluates software applications and upgrades.
- Develops procedures manuals and related forms to guarantee that knowledge of important technical processes and assigned functional area related application software is passed on to future assigned functional area related departmental technologist.
Work Environment/Physical Demands - Lift and move computer equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Travel to meetings and/or various locations as required.
- Perform off-hours scheduled maintenance downtime.
- Work on call on a scheduled and as needed basis.
