- Exercises direct supervision over clients.
- Conducts orientations to new clients to explain facility and/or program rules and procedures
- Monitors client living and work areas; assigns and supervises work assignments; supervises meal service.
- Monitors the safety and security of the facility and controls contraband, including conducting searches of clients and living areas.
- Maintains client accountability by conducting periodic formal counts, checking clients in/out of the facility, conducting phone or on-site checks of client locations, and conducting random monitoring of client activities.
- Coordinates with community agencies, employers, and related groups to facilitate employment, work projects, or community service commitments.

- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to apply principles, practices, and objectives as related to crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and security methods in an inmate/offender detention program.
- Maintain record-keeping and reporting procedures.
- Read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Appropriately respond to situations and people in conflict.
- Perform CPR and respond in a medical emergency.
- Be able to multitask.
- Provide extraordinary customer service.
QualificationsAll candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- Two (2) years of higher education or any combination of education, training, or experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the job.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
- Possession of Adult CPR, First Aid and AED certification within six (6) months of hire is required.

Supplemental InformationSuccessful candidates will work with CJA at either the Alternative Sentencing Department or Community Corrections Department to supervise clients as they complete court-ordered custody or alternative jail programs. Tasks in this role vary based upon assignment but can include supervision of clients in a halfway house or work release facility, supervision of off-site work crews, monitoring client living areas, monitoring and dispensing medication, and numerous other tasks. Work in either Department will involve directly working with the people under our supervision.
This is a divisional posting for the Community Justice Specialist position, which will be used to fill any current vacancies and create an eligibility list for future vacancies. The eligibility list will be utilized as positions within the Larimer County Community Corrections Department and the Larimer County Alternative Sentencing Department become available.
