Pay Range: $21.32 - $23.72/hr. ***$2,000 Sign- On Incentive*** Job Posting Closing on: Friday, November 15, 2024 Workdays & Hours: Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday 7am - 5:30pm; Some evening/weekend work required.

Equipment Operator jobs are available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works/Street Operations Division. The selected candidate will be part of a working streets maintenance crew. The candidates selected to fill the Equipment Operator positions will be performing maintenance and construction duties in addition to operating equipment. TPW/Street Operations performs concrete and asphalt street maintenance repairs and operates as an emergency response for all street-related situations.
As a member of the team, the ideal candidate will be available in an on-call capacity when emergencies arise. The successful candidates will be required to work outside, during inclement weather, at night and on weekends for special events or emergency call-back.
This position qualifies for the following incentives which is separate from the base pay:
Sign-On Incentive of: $2,000 ***50% paid after the completion of first pay period, 50% paid after the completion of 6 months of employment. ***
Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED
- Must possess a Class A Drivers License and ability to obtain a Tank Endorsement will be required within six (6) months of hire; Operations of a Distributor, Brine Tank trucks, Water trucks, and/or Sweeper as required.
- One (1) year of experience in operation of heavy equipment or construction experience.
- Must pass Drug Screen and Physical
Preferred Qualifications: - On-road equipment including operating a dump truck, tractor trailer, water truck.
- Off-road equipment such as back-hoe, skid-steer, pay loader, mini-excavator.
- Hauling various materials such as rock, sand, debris, asphalt and experience hauling equipment (pulling trailers).
- Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures.
- Knowledge and use of various hand and power tools as it relates to Street maintenance including.
The Equipment Operator job responsibilities include: - Experience working with Shovel.
- Experience working with concrete hand tools; form setting and concrete finishing.
- Experience with crack sealing and asphalt raking.
- On-road equipment including operating a dump truck, tractor trailer, sweeper.
- Off-road equipment such as back-hoe, front-end loader and/or skid steer.

Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.
Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
