Pay Range: $79,240 - $89,576

The position of
Zoning Pians Examiner Supervisor is available with the City of Fort Worth Development Services Department.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, architecture or a related field
- Four (4) years of plans review and examination experience, including one year of administrative or lead supervisory responsibility.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a certificate from a national model code organization showing satisfactory competence in code knowledge in assigned examination area of the disciplines covered by this classification.
The Zoning Plans Examiner Supervisor’s job responsibilities include: - Supervises, assigns, reviews and participates in the work of employees responsible for determining compliance of applications for site plans, signs, certificates of occupancy, and alcoholic licenses/permits with the Zoning Ordinance.
- Routinely monitors staff productivity including quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness to ensure performance goals are met.
- Provides assistance and advice to contractors, engineers, and architects as to appropriate professional acceptable standards; and interprets codes and regulations to assist them in producing drawings of conformity and reliability.
- Provides assistance to the general public on plans review and permit approval policies and procedures.
- Participates in finding strategies for continuous customer service improvement including collaboration with other divisions within the department and implementing process and software enhancements.
- Ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
- Conducts performance evaluations and makes hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations.
- Makes provisions for ongoing staff training.
- Assists the Manager and Assistant Director in the preparation and administration of the program budget.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.
- Maintains a healthy and safe working environment.
Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience reviewing commercial site plans for compliance with the Zoning Ordinance.
WORKING CONDITIONS Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
