Description

TPWD MISSION

To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Law Enforcement Game Warden Training Center Major (GWTC), this position performs complex (journey-level) staff services work, including, responsible for the GWTC regional budgets to include Cadet and Recruiters Budget. Responsible for the budget preparation and analysis work within GWTC, Cadet and Recruiters related budgets, funding and associated reporting. Performs budgetary activities which include reviewing and analyzing operating budgets and providing advice and assistance on budgetary matters. Performs work which involves planning, organizing, coordinating and evaluation of budget along with preparing, completing and reviewing multiple Schedule IIIs. Acts as the Game Warden Training Center purchasing coordinator and purchaser. Functions as the Human Resources point-of-contact for the Game Warden Training Center within the Law Enforcement Division. Plans, organizes and performs responsible technical, budgetary, administrative and advanced clerical duties in support of the Law Enforcement Division. Must be able to maintain confidentiality related to personnel, incidents and investigations and all areas where sensitive information is provided. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.


Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Graduation from High School or GED.

Experience:

Five years of administrative support experience.

Licensure:

Applicant must possess a valid State driver's license.

ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS

Experience:

Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of experience with a maximum substitution of two years experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

Experience in office management.

Experience in accounting, auditing and/or finance.

Experience in budget preparation and analysis.

Experience in preparation of budgetary and forecasting measurement and reporting.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday/alternative work schedule may be available;

This position is suitable to telework two days per week and the candidate may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

Required to pass a national fingerprint-based background check to maintain employment.

Required to work overtime as necessary;

Required to travel 5%;

Required to operate a state vehicle;

Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and material up to 20lbs;

Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
