The Solano County Public Health Services Division of the Health and Social Services Department is currently recruiting for Health Education Specialists (Supervising).

The current vacancy is to fill a Limited Term position.

Essential Duties

THE POSITION

The Health Education Specialist (Supervising) plans, coordinates, supervises and implements ongoing community health education programs; participates in development of and monitors program budgets; oversees contracts and the work of contract employees; serves as a member of the department's management/supervisory team.

This is a first line supervisory level position in the Health Education Specialist series. The Supervising Health Education Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising the work of Health Education Specialists and other professional and clerical staff in a specific health education program. They provide supervision, consultation and technical assistance to department staff.

The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.

Position Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Experience:
Three years of full time, paid experience, in health education/promotion activities; some lead experience preferred.

Education/Training:
A Master’s degree is required from an accredited college or university, in public health or a related field.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California Class C drivers license may be required.

VETERANS PREFERENCE POINTS
To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions. A COPY OF THE DD 214, SHOWING DISCHARGE TYPE (GENERALLY COPY 4), MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BY THE FINAL FILING DATE. Applicants who have a service connected disability must also submit a recent award letter from the VA stating they are receiving disability benefits for service connected reasons.

Veteran applicants for initial County employment with an honorable or general under conditions discharge shall receive five (5) points added to their combined score.
