Registered Nurse Forensic Treatment Center - South5300 Arsenal St., St. Louis, MO 63139Scheduled Hours: Day Shift (rotating days off) Work Area: Cottage BPosition Code: 500369 Org Code: S6SBSt. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South provides specialized care for clients diagnosed with mental illness. We are looking for a positive and energetic Registered Nurse who has an interest in helping those with mental illness maximize their potential.
Responsibilities :As a Registered Nurse at St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South, you will receive ongoing guidance, support and education, providing you the opportunity to flourish as a mental health practitioner. You will also coach and mentor our Psychiatric Technicians as a charge nurse in a unit or cottage. Functions as a charge nurse on assigned unit or cottage that requires close supervision; assign, supervise and evaluate the work of other Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, direct care and/or other staff in the care and treatment of patients; serve as nursing team leader for defining and implementing the nursing care plan for assigned patients and for supervision of nursing team members; Conducts nursing assessments and develops nursing diagnoses and care plans; train and evaluate nursing staff, direct care staff and nursing students; administers medications and treatment as prescribed by a physician; conducts rounds with and informs physicians of patient status, and receive instructions for further care and treatment; performs assigned duties independently according to instructions and establish nursing standards and procedures; work is reviewed by supervisors for conformance with established policies and effectiveness of nursing procedures; and performs other elated work as assigned
Eligibility :Comprehensive knowledge of professional nursing theory practices and standards; knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutic diets and nutrition, aseptic techniques, and other basic natural and social sciences necessary to provide professional nursing care; introductory knowledge of management principles and techniques as applied to nursing administration; ability to supervise, evaluate and instruct professional and paraprofessional nursing staff, assess patients with mental or physical illness and/or developmental and physical disabilities, make nursing diagnoses, and formulate nursing care plans, direct and administer detailed therapeutic prescriptions and nursing interventions, observe, recognize and identify deviations in the conditions of patients, ability to work assigned schedule which may include a variety of shifts, weekends and/or holidays, establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients and their family members.
A Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university
OR a Bachelor's degree of Nursing from an accredited college or university
AND One of more year of professional experience as a Registered Nurse
OR an Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university or a Diploma in Nursing
AND Two or more years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse.
Special Requirements: Possession of a current license to practice as a RN in the State of Missouri or in accordance with Missouri's Nurse Licensure Compact at the time of appointment.
