This position may be filled at one of three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, an Intermediate starting salary of $56,712.48 and a Senior starting salary of $61,249.44.Job Location: Jefferson City, MissouriThe Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking a Civil Rights Specialist (Workforce) for the statewide Improve I-70 Program. This program includes the planning, design, construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and repair of three lanes in each direction approximately 200 miles of I-70.
The civil rights specialist performs routine entry-level activities required to ensure all contractors and subcontractors with current contracts comply with the equal employment opportunity laws as defined in each contract. Duties may include facilitating, coordinating and creating opportunities to increase minority and female inclusion in the areas of employment, procurement and highway contracting by utilizing the department's external affirmative action, equal opportunity and non-discrimination programs. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

What you’ll do: - Develops workforce development and partnership opportunities with the I-70 Program.
- Helps develop a STEM program to educate high school students along the corridor of the opportunities in transportation.
- Assist in addressing the equal employment opportunity and affirmative action programs for external employment, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification, participation and verification, on the job training (OJT), contract compliance and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
- Maintains knowledge of regulatory policy and legal material relevant to external civil rights; implements and manages policies for compliance with all civil rights programs and current laws.
- Oversees project and contract compliance reviews and approves sub-recipient policies to ensure compliance with civil rights programs.
All you need for success: Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree: Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field
- Substitution of experience for education requirement will be considered
Special Working Conditions: - Job requires statewide and out-of-state, overnight travel along I-70.
- Remote work location from any MoDOT facility or hybrid telework option may be considered.
