Rate of pay depends on qualifications.Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe Business Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining the integrity, validity, and functionality of the respective data for the assigned business group. The Data Analyst will lead and perform complex analysis in an evolving data environment. In addition to having very strong technical skills, this position will have outstanding business process analysis and interpersonal skills. The ability to extract and analyze data, patterns, and related trends is needed, with the ability to summarize the data into useable information by leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Maintains integrity of data in system and develops policies and procedures.
- Oversees the processing of all transactional data entry and the maintenance of all related tables to ensure the accuracy and consistency of all related record changes.
- Serves as a functional Liaison with Information Services in relation to system implementations, conversions, and upgrades.
- Assists in the development of business requirements and evaluation of software capabilities as a user in order to ensure the best design of business system solutions.
- Assists Information Systems as a functional user in the testing of system patches, tables, reports, and software upgrades.
- Extracts and analyzes data from various systems, such as for the Lawson, or other corporate business systems.
- Works with the business group to identify and scope new opportunities for data analysis applications to evaluate business performance and to support business decisions.
- Works internally and with the business group to define, secure and prepare data for modeling.
- Analyzes, identifies and assesses data attributes using statistical software packages and develops recommendations and processes to improve operational performance ensuring adherence to department policies and procedures.
- Performs strategic data and trend analysis and research to support business needs, as necessary.
- Explores data to identify opportunities to improve business results.
- Develops understanding of business processes, goals and strategies in order to provide analysis and interpretation to management.
- Develops and provides training to associates and provides technical assistance and support, as needed.
- Works closely with business stakeholders to identify and answer critical questions.
- Formulates and prepares ad-hoc and project-related business reports to respond to departmental reporting needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
DECISION MAKING- The incumbent works under general supervision.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field from an institution accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency.
- Three years' experience developing, analyzing and presenting reports and data.
- Proficient in the use of computer systems such as Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and Crystal Reports.
JOB DIMENSIONS - Contact with internal and external customers and vendors.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical requirements include lifting up to 5 pounds occasionally. Subject to sitting and standing for long periods of time. Requires visual acuity, speech and hearing. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment and performs occasional field visits.
May be required to work hours other than regular schedule on exception, such as nights, weekends, and holidays.
