We are currently seeking experienced candidates for the position of Financial Aid Programs Manager. The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education. The CSU Chancellor's Office offers a premium benefit package that includes outstanding vacation, health, and dental plans; a fee waiver education program; membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (PERS); and 15 paid holidays a year.

Salary

The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $6,750 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The salary range for this classification is $3,938 to $11,703 per month.

Position Information

The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Financial Aid Programs Manager to manage the development, promotion, and implementation of systemwide financial wellness programming. Ensure that assets developed can be utilized across the 23 universities and the Chancellor’s Office. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing training for financial aid offices across the 23 universities and managing internal and external web content.

The incumbent represents the CSU on various intersegmental committees and task forces at the statewide level. The incumbent will work collaboratively with cross-divisional managers and committees including Financial Aid Directors, Financial Aid and Scholarships teams, Directors of Outreach, CMS managers and staff, Directors of Admissions and Records (DAR), State University Registrars (SUR), Extended Education, Cal State Online, and institutional research directors.

This position is approved for telecommuting (two days telecommuting, three days in office (in-person)) with onsite work at the main headquarters located in Long Beach, California.

Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Systemwide Director, Financial Aid Programs, the Financial Aid Programs Manager will perform duties as outlined below:

Financial Wellness

-Strategically develop and successfully implement financial wellness programming for CSU students for systemwide and campus use.

-Create presentations on financial related topics, student loans, and budgeting for students and alumni.

-Develop budgeting and financial wellness marketing and web materials.

-Provide workshops on loan repayment options.

-Establish and maintain relationships with outside organizations that provide financial wellness programming.

-Collaborate with CSU student affairs areas on financial wellness and budgeting, i.e., Veterans, Residential Life/Housing, Basic needs, EOP, CSSA, and special student populations.

-Collaborate with outreach on special events for prospective students.

-Promote CSU affordability with target audiences.

-Collaborate with Academic Technology services to create and maintain CSU financial wellness modules that could be used centrally or by campuses.

Internal and External Web Content

-Manage, organize and maintain internal web content for the Chancellor’s Office and the 23 universities.

-In collaboration with the Marketing Communications team and Strategic Enrollment Management develop marketing materials for the Financial Aid unit.

-Collaborate with Strategic Enrollment Management colleagues to update and maintain financial aid web content on Calstate.edu.

-Support the implementation and maintenance of chat bot content related to financial aid.

-Review CSU campus websites to ensure they meet federal Title IV disclosure and information requirements.

-Research and evaluation of user information needs for optimal user efficiency and utilization of website resources.

Training Development and Maintenance

-Develop and maintain a reusable training program for university financial aid staff regarding CSU Financial Aid policies and procedures.

-Collaborate with Academic Technology services to create and maintain CSU financial aid training modules.

-Develop and present financial wellness trainings for CSU Campuses

-Work with campuses to develop trainings on various financial aid and wellness topics.

-Actively participate and contribute to regular and ad-hoc meetings.

Other Duties as Assigned

-Other duties as assigned in support of Financial Aid department and CSU goals and priorities.

-Provide general assistance with other office projects and support programs.

-Attend on-site and off-site conferences and trainings.

-Complete other projects or duties as assigned by the associate director and director, systemwide financial aid programs.

-Provide general assistance to program staff as needed.

Qualifications

This position requires:

-Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related area and a minimum of 3 years of experience related to the administration of student financial aid programs. Preference will be given for experience or related training in financial wellness, financial aid training, and marketing of financial aid availability.

-Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form.

-Ability to learn, interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting financial aid data.

-Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate training plans, curricula, and methodology.

-Ability to organize and plan work and projects.

-Skilled in working independently, exercising good judgment and implementing planning activities.

-Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with and outside the work group and serve as a liaison for the unit.

-Knowledge of federal and state financial aid policies and processes.

-Independent judgment and problem-solving skills.

-Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively establish and maintain working relationships across functional groups and various levels of professionals within the organization.

-Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to synthesize functional and technical project requirements for a variety of audiences.

-Ability to analyze, interpret and explain legislation, policies, and technical procedures.

-Skilled in working independently, exercising good judgment, and implementing planning activities.

-Demonstrated experience working with various constituent groups in developing applications or programs in order to work with invested parties.

-Strong knowledge and experience in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Project and Outlook and online content editors to facilitate projects.
