Assistant Engineer II (Power Design Team)
Description
As an
Assistant Engineer II on the
Power Design Team, Design Section, you will participate on a project team and assist with
electrical engineering projects related to Water Treatment, Conveyance & Distribution, and the Colorado River Aqueduct. You will assist project leads through a variety of engineering work including data collection, design development, and construction support. You will have the opportunity to utilize your engineering experience with
electrical projects (including study, analysis, design, construction support, and similar activities) and assignments as you support the Metropolitan Water District's mission to provide water to Southern California.
Schedule: 44/36, Monday through Friday/Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday. Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm.
Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.
Travel: This position will require travel to various District facilities throughout the service area, sometimes requiring overnight stay in the project area.

Assistant Engineer II EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer I level.
Degree in a related field is defined as: BS in Engineering
Relevant Experience is defined as: electrical engineering work experience in the fields of: electrical equipment design, testing, and/or data collection; facility design and planning; power distribution and transmission system design and analysis; field inspector; OR construction management.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
