DescriptionTHE POSITIONWe invite you to join the high performing team at the Town of Prescott Valley, serving as our Cataloging Librarian for the Prescott Valley Public Library, a division in the Community Services Department. All librarians serve in a leadership role within the library, organization, and community with or without a formal supervisory assignment. Examples of DutiesIn this position you will: - Write grants to secure funding and resources to support the library's mission, programs, and services, Assist with long-range and short-range planning.
- Maintain collections of materials and resources in various formats from vendors, occasionally in collaboration with consortia partners.
- Perform a variety of customer service duties including assisting patrons with Reference, Public Access Computers, databases, software, and other equipment.
- Original and copy cataloging of library materials according to established professional standards; maintains, edits, and updates computerized records as necessary.
- Oversee the Cataloging division budget.
- Compile, edit, maintain, and update database of library materials; correct database discrepancies.
- Collaborates with colleagues within the Consortium in library database standards creation for the consortium.
- Oversee acquisition functions (vendor relations, ordering (manual and electronic) and receiving), serial management, and Inter-Library loan requests.
- Supervise staff and daily operations of the Technical Services department including acquisitions, technical processing, and interlibrary loans.
Typical QualificationRequirements:- Requires a Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS), at least two (2) years of professional experience in a public library, and one (1) year of supervisory experience. Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Working knowledge of principles and techniques of selecting and managing a library collection and library classification schemes (i.e. Dewey Decimal System).
- Skilled in developing, planning, organizing, and coordinating programs within assigned areas.
- Skill in library collection development.
Compensation: The Town's complete compensation package includes salary, benefits, and a high performance culture. The Town package includes a no-cost to individual health insurance plan and a generous retirement package including participation in the Arizona State Retirement System.
The salary range is $63,294 to $88,608.
The expected hiring range is $63,294 to $72,800.
