Major Duties Under the general supervision of the Department Chair, the Broadcast, and Digital Media Coordinator directs the distribution of content produced in the department’s radio, student news, and television facilities (newsrooms, control and broadcast studios) and oversees the maintenance of broadcast, digital, social media, and other content in a multi-platform environment, including creation of procedures and systems to support students’ work and enforce journalistic and ethical standards. The incumbent works collaboratively with faculty, students, and technical and administrative staff before and during production times.
- Oversees online news and content provider services and initiates requests to the department chair, physical and technology updates, and oversees student journalist contest entries for radio, television, and digital.
- Oversees the department’s news media and production facilities (newsroom, ISO booth, and recording studios in LA 380 and MZ 150 facilities) and programming in the station housed in The Soraya’s Kurland Auditorium Complex.
- Plans and guides students in broadcast newsroom activities, including the gathering, writing, editing, and production of news, sports, public affairs, and other programming aired on radio, television, digital and social media, and/or other media.

Qualifications - Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or in a related field.
- Equivalent to four (4) years of professional broadcast newsroom experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Demonstrated ability in gathering, writing, editing, and producing news to be aired on radio, and television and posted to digital and social media.
- Proven ability to use broadcast journalism-related news operating systems, web-based TV/radio scripting software, video-editing, and audio-editing programs; ability to use news wires and news feeds to analyze stories for sourcing purposes and to identify stories for a local audience.
- Ability to work with student journalists and faculty in choosing and editing content to be uploaded to news website
- Ability to screen, hire, and supervise student employees.
- Ability to work in a team environment and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. High-level internet research skills; media literacy knowledge; English oral and written communication skills (bilingual in Spanish preferred); sound judgment skills; computer skills; interpersonal skills; and cross-functional team-leading skills.

- The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4035 - $5333 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4035 - $7299 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.
- This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
- The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
