Description
Introduction Performs professional level review of construction plans to ensure compliance with city codes, legal requirements and national standards. May serve as a team leader in coordinating multidisciplinary plan review activities.
Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on candidate's experience and internal equity. The midpoint of this position is $88,171.20 Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience- Three years of experience with construction plan review specific to the job assignment or discipline.
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution in Architecture, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or closely related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and /or job related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may substituted.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Community & Economic Development (CED) Assignment:- Current International Code Council (ICC) certification depending on assignment.
Essential Functions Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
Community & Economic Development (CED) assignment:- Performs computations in the assessment of code compliance.
- Identifies inadequacies found on construction documents and specifications.
- Evaluates the suitability of materials and methods of construction for compliance with construction codes.
- Participates in site visits to evaluate issues, identify potential problems, and suggest corrective measures.
- Participates in the process of reviewing existing codes to resolve issues and accommodate new materials or design concepts.
- Responds to questions, submitted by the public, related to construction codes and regulations, engineering standards, and City policies and procedures.
- Conducts and attends meetings with developers, owners, architects and engineers.
- Monitors the workload of Plan Examiners as needed.
