The University Student Union, as the heart of campus, uplifts and empowers students to achieve educational, personal and professional goals by providing leadership development, meaningful employment, and innovative programs, services and facilities. Our facilities include a University Student Union and a 138,000 square foot Student Recreation Center (SRC). The SRC is a facility for exercise and leisure activity that promotes lifelong health and wellness.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general guidance from the University Student Union (USU) Executive Director and working as a member of the USU’s Executive Management Team, the Director, Student Recreation Center, is responsible for the administrative oversight and management of a comprehensive campus recreation program and Student Recreation Center. Programs and areas include Administration, Facilities, Membership, Fitness, Oasis Wellness Center, Aquatics, Intramural Sports, Games Room, and a summer day camp. The Director plays a vital role in aligning campus recreation initiatives with the strategic goals of the USU and University and is a key member of a campus-wide team responsible for coordinating a comprehensive recreation program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with a major in sports management, recreation administration, physical education, kinesiology/exercise science, business administration, public administration or a related field.

Experience:

Equivalent to a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible professional work experience in college recreation and facilities or comparable work environment including administration, supervision, budget management, program support, operations, and/or facility management and oversight.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Master’s degree in a related field.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is generally performed in both a temperature-controlled office environment and an outdoor, environment and may occasionally involve inclement weather conditions. Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the University, including students, faculty, staff, and administrators required. Ability to work effectively with employees of other campus auxiliaries required. Ability to work effectively with contractors, vendors and members of the community-at-large required. Ability to work under pressure required and adhere to deadlines.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

The position directly supervises the Assistant Director, SRC Programs, Assistant Director, Fitness and Wellness, Manager, Facilities Operations and Membership Services, and one part-time student assistant employee. The position indirectly supervises full-time staff employees, temporary emergency part-time casual employees and, part-time student assistant employees.

PAY, BENEFITS AND WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is employed through University Student Union (USU). The USU offers an excellent benefits package including Medical, Dental & Vision insurance, Life Insurance, Vacation, Sick Leave, 14 paid Holidays, company sponsored retirement program and more.

The anticipated hiring range will be as follows and is dependent on experience and qualifications:

Annually: $ 105,000.00 - $ 120,293.00

The salary range of the position is as follows:

Annually: Minimum: $85,995.00 Maximum: $154,791.00

HOURS: Full-Time; FLSA Exempt; may include early mornings, late evenings and weekends.
