Middle School Coach Department of Parks & Recreation Non Exempt
No Benefits, Non VRS Eligible
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: Coaches, organizes, and supervises a certain sport; does related work as required.
Sports: Basketball, Cross Country, Flag Football, Soccer, Track, Volleyball
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILIITES: Personal skills that reflect positive relations with middle school students, parents, and the community; knowledge of the principles of individual and team fundamentals of the listed sports; ability to organize and prepare practice schedules; ability to develop a solid discipline that emphasizes teamwork and good sportsmanship. Teaches sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, personal responsibility, and competitiveness to all students. Gives instruction on the particular sport that is being offered, including teaching skills, running drills, scrimmages, and games.
SALARY : Coaching Stipend
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Required knowledge, skills, and abilities to organize, promote, lead, supervise and teach recreational sports to middle school students; ability to secure cooperation and communication with students and adults; dependability, initiative, and resourcefulness.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: Work involves frequent walking and standing, some lifting and carrying of objects of moderate weight (12-20 lbs.), and daily participation in leading practices, and games for middle school students. Requires constant supervision of students and contact with parents.
