Why you’ll love this position:The Missouri State Fair is one of the oldest in the nation. The fairgrounds, which cover 597 acres in Sedalia (Pettis County), are open year-round, providing facilities for horse and livestock shows, art and craft festivals, camping, rallies and other events. During the annual fair held in August, visitors enjoy educational and recreational activities, a carnival midway and musical entertainment.
The Missouri State Fair continues to be the state’s largest agricultural and tourism event, with exhibits showcasing livestock, row crops, horticulture and floriculture. The State Fair plays an important role in shaping Missouri agriculture, contributing to the state’s economy and educating the public about the importance and necessity of agriculture. It features agribusiness exhibits and displays of Missouri-produced commodities.
We are currently looking for two (2) Competitive Entry Department Interns to work Summer 2025 (mid-May to mid-August) for the State Fair. You will gain real-life experiences working for the annual Missouri State Fair!Free housing can be included on the Fairgrounds, which consists of one bedroom & bathroom in the Historic Administration Building. Limited meals may be provided during the 11-day Fair.
- Data Entry
- Agriculture education opportunities
- General office work- answering phones, emails, organizing files
- Organize contest ribbons, plaques, banners and other prizes
- Communicate and work with exhibitors and contest Superintendents
- Design and distribute materials via mail and email
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:Must be a current college student (Freshman through Graduate School) with a minimum 3.0 GPA. All are welcome to apply, but generally those pursuing degrees in Agriculture-related fields, Animal Science, Agriculture Education, Agriculture Business or Communications are preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:Interest in Missouri agriculture Detail-oriented and thrives under pressure Basic knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel and Outlook) Understands basic office principles and data entry General knowledge of Fair exhibits (Livestock and Static Building Exhibits)
